MakeMine is a managed hoodie and sweatshirt manufacturer for founder-led brands, producing cut-and-sew programs of 1,000 units and up in China and Peru. We are not a factory, a sourcing agent or a blanks supplier. We run the program: fabric sourcing, sampling, production, third-party inspection and delivery, on one dashboard, with one point of contact.
Who we produce for
Scaling streetwear and lifestyle brands
You already sell hoodies. Direct, wholesale, drops, or all three. Your next order is 1,000 units or more across a few styles, and the problem is no longer finding a factory. It is holding fleece weight, wash and fit steady from run to run while adding harder constructions. This is the core of our hoodie work. Most of our fleece volume comes from streetwear and men’s lifestyle brands running heavyweight pullovers, garment dye and stacked decoration at the same time.
Heritage and relaunching brands
You have a customer who knows how your hoodie should feel, and a supply chain that stopped working. A domestic shop that closed, a factory that stopped answering, a fabric mill that discontinued your fleece. We reverse-engineer from a reference garment, rebuild the tech pack, re-source fabric to match hand and weight, and run lab dips against your existing colors. The goal is a hoodie your customer cannot tell apart from the last one.
Founder-led startups with a real first order
We will be direct here, because it saves both of us time. If you are looking for blanks to print on, print-on-demand, or a first run under 1,000 units, we are not the right fit, and we will tell you on the first call. That is not a judgment on the brand. It is a mismatch with how cut-and-sew fleece works. We keep an honest guide for that stage at /clothing-manufacturer-for-startups. If you are already selling, have a first PO of 1,000 units across styles and want custom fabric, custom fit and real decoration, get a quote.
What hoodies actually require
Fleece weight and construction
Weight is the first line of any hoodie tech pack, and it is the most misunderstood. We source 320 to 500gsm fleece regularly and up to 600gsm for specialty programs. But 400gsm brushed-back fleece and 400gsm loopback French terry are different garments: different hand, different drape, different shrinkage. Cotton-poly blends hold shape and color through washing; 100% cotton feels better and shrinks more. Heavier fleece needs heavier construction, so we specify seam type, thread weight and stitch density to match. A 500gsm hoodie on a lightweight seam fails at the armhole.
Garment dye consistency
Garment dye, crystal wash, tie dye and spray wash sell because every piece is slightly different. That is also why they fail. Without a standard, “slightly different” becomes a rejected shipment. We run every dye program on documented lab dips with a tolerance range agreed before production. Shrinkage after dye is measured at sample stage and built back into the pattern, so a washed hoodie lands at the size on the label. Dye lots are checked against the approved standard during inspection, not after the customer notices.
Decoration stacks
Serious hoodie programs rarely use one technique. Puff print over screen print. Embroidery over garment dye. All-over embroidery on a color-blocked body. Each combination has a sequence, and the sequence changes cost and lead time. Embroidery before dye takes the dye differently than embroidery after. We approve the full stack on the golden sample, with placement, thread count, backing and cure specified, so production is a copy job and not a second design round.
Hardware and trims
Drawcords, metal eyelets, aglets, zipper tape and pulls, woven labels, hang tags. Trims are a small share of unit cost and a large share of perceived quality. A heavyweight hoodie with a flimsy drawcord reads cheap. Every trim is specified by material and finish in the tech pack and sourced with its own lead time, because a late zipper delays a finished run as surely as late fabric.
Factory-country fit
China is the right home for most hoodie programs: heavyweight fleece, garment dye, complex decoration, licensed collaborations, all at 100 units per colorway. Peru fits brands building around premium pima cotton fleece and French terry, at higher minimums. We match style by style, not brand by brand, so a program can split across both. Duties are a real line in the landed cost either way; our China tariff guide covers what to expect.
How a scaling brand works with us
A hoodie program starts with tech packs or reference samples, whichever you have. We review them for the things that break at the factory: missing shrinkage allowances, unspecified fleece construction, decoration that cannot be sequenced. If your tech packs need work, our tech pack guide shows the standard we build to. Fabric sourcing follows, usually 20 to 30 days, and our fabric sourcing guide explains how we swatch and approve. From there it is samples, PO, production, QIMA inspection and shipping, all visible in your dashboard. Brands that want inventory received, stored and shipped from our Charlotte warehouse add fulfillment as a bundle.
Anonymized client snapshots
Charlotte streetwear brand. Started with a single crystal wash hoodie program of 900 units and expanded into tie dye hoodies (286 units), cropped tie dye hoodies (115), all-over embroidered hoodies (400), color-blocked hoodies, crew neck hoodies and camo hoodies, plus matching sweatpants. The same program produced satin jackets for licensed collaborations with a PGA Championship, a university and a professional soccer club, where the licensor’s approval process ran alongside ours. Garment dye consistency across every reorder was the reason the licensed work was possible.
Kids performance brand. Ran boys’ French terry hooded sweatshirts at 2,150 units alongside French terry pullovers, as part of a larger performance program. Kids fleece has tighter tolerances than adult: sizing runs are wider, drawcord and hardware choices are constrained, and shrinkage after wash matters more to a parent than to anyone. Sizing was locked at fit sample stage and held through inspection.
Men’s lifestyle brand. Produced fleece jackets at 5,250 units, then flannel hooded jackets and reversible bombers. Outerwear-weight fleece with zippers, linings and multiple trim suppliers is the most coordination-heavy work in this category. One point of contact managed fabric, trim and factory calendars so the brand’s ops lead managed one.
What it actually costs
Every quote is line-item. You see the FOB price per style, the sample fees, and the logistics estimate before you commit to anything. A small margin is built in, based on the discounted rates we get from the factory. The components of a landed hoodie cost:
- FOB per unit. Driven by fleece weight, construction, dye process and decoration stack. A 450gsm garment dyed hoodie with puff print and embroidery is a different number than a 320gsm crewneck with one screen print.
- Sample fees. At factory cost, typically $50 to $100 per sample. Budget for 2 to 3 rounds on a new style.
- Duties. Set by the tariff schedule for the fiber content and country of origin. Our China tariff guide walks through current rates for cotton and cotton-blend fleece. To find the code and duty for your hoodie, look under Sweatshirt in our apparel HTS code finder.
- Shipping and logistics. Air at 5 to 10 days or ocean at 45 to 60 days. Hoodies are bulky, so ocean is usually the right call for a 1,000-unit run unless a launch date says otherwise.
The process
1. Submit tech packs or reference samples
Send what you have. Finished tech packs, a competitor’s hoodie you want to match, or a sample from your current factory. We review fleece weight, fit, dye and decoration and tell you what will and will not work at your quantity.
2. Get matched with the right factory
We place each style with a factory in China or Peru based on the fleece construction, wash and decoration it needs, at minimums your order clears. You are not choosing from a directory. We are choosing for the garment.
3. Review pricing, MOQs and lead times
You receive a line-item quote per style with FOB pricing, sample fees, minimums per colorway and a dated calendar from sourcing to delivery. Nothing starts until you approve it.
4. Approve fabric, fit and golden samples
Fabric swatches and lab dips come first. Then fit samples, usually 2 to 3 rounds. Then a golden sample with every print, stitch, dye and trim in place. The golden sample is the contract with the factory.
5. Place your PO and track production
Production runs against the golden sample over 45 to 60 days. QIMA inspects before shipping. You see progress, photos and inspection reports in your dashboard as they happen.
6. Scale
Reorders on approved fabric skip sourcing. New colorways drop in at 100 units each. New styles run on the same process with the same point of contact, and fulfillment from Charlotte is there when you need inventory off your floor.
